Electrical Engineering → Master

Computer-based and networked electronic systems are increasingly permeating more and more areas of business, science, society and personal life.

Electrical engineers are urgently needed worldwide to develop new systems, further develop and operate existing ones, and to research the foundations for entirely new technologies.

In the Master's program in Electrical Engineering, you will deepen the knowledge you acquired during your Bachelor's studies, choosing to specialize in either Power Engineering or Information Technology. Both are highly sought-after fields with a constantly growing demand for graduates.

Power Engineering encompasses the generation, transmission, conversion, and application of electrical energy. In addition to the fundamentals, this field includes energy generation from renewable sources, such as bioenergy and wind turbines, the design, operation, and control of electrical drive systems, and the associated high-temperature electronics.

Information Technology focuses primarily on the processing and transmission of digital information. This ranges from digital signal processing and data transmission to circuit design, embedded systems, and multi-processor systems, as well as mobile and wireless communication systems.

During the first three semesters, you will select modules from the respective module catalog, based on your chosen specialization. In the third semester, the specialization module allows for further focus on your chosen area of specialization. The fourth semester is dedicated to writing your master's thesis. Both specializations include mandatory language courses.

The program is taught entirely in English and is therefore equally suitable for English-speaking international students and for German-speaking students with excellent English skills who aspire to an international career and wish to intensively apply and further develop their English language skills alongside acquiring specialized knowledge.
