Computer Science International → Master

Electronic systems used in all areas of business, science, and society, as well as in private life – such as computers, laptops, tablets, smartphones, smartwatches, and electronic gaming and entertainment devices, but also online shops and the control systems of machines and industrial plants – are based on data processing, networking, and communication. Computer scientists are in high demand worldwide for the development, further development, and operation of the necessary IT systems, programs, and apps.

In the Master's program in Computer Science International, you will expand and deepen the knowledge you acquired during your Bachelor's studies, choosing to specialize in either Information Systems or Complex Systems. Both are highly sought-after fields with a constantly growing demand for graduates.

The Information Systems specialization focuses on the design of software, algorithms, and data structures for information systems, as well as techniques for the efficient analysis of large datasets. This includes managing, retrieving, and analyzing large datasets, along with modern Big Data methods and data mining, which combine and analyze complex models and large datasets. Further topics include the traceability of processes and results, data privacy, user-centered design, human-computer interfaces, software development methodologies, the fundamentals of machine learning and artificial intelligence, interactive visual analysis, and the development and use of simulation models.

The specialization in Complex Systems covers architectures, models, methods, algorithms, and tools for IT systems characterized by a multitude of distributed and interacting components, heterogeneity, and diverse interdependencies. This includes topics such as modeling, analysis, and simulation techniques for the design and evaluation of complex systems, as well as verification techniques for proving important system properties such as correctness. To ensure the performance, security, and reliability of such systems, methods of self-organization, security and fault tolerance mechanisms, cryptographic and distributed algorithms, and technologies in the areas of middleware and the World Wide Web are also covered.

With the research-oriented Master's program in Computer Science International, you will be qualified for academic and industrial careers in computer science, for specialist positions in the public sector, and for pursuing doctoral studies at a national or international university.

The course is offered in English and is therefore equally suitable for English-speaking international students and for German-speaking students with very good English skills who aspire to an international career and want to intensively apply and further develop their English language skills in addition to acquiring specialist knowledge.
